On March 30, 2016, the UVR-GSA Formation Committee (FC) submitted a request to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) to modify the existing state-designated boundaries of Upper Ventura River Groundwater Basin.

The option to modify basin boundaries is part of the new Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), and the request by the UVR-GSA is just one of 54 requests submitted to DWR thus far.

The FC felt that updating the basin to be as accurate as possible based on current knowledge was important to do before starting on the groundwater sustainability plan.

Interested stakeholders can view the entire request, along with maps and supporting documentation, on DWRs Basin Boundary Modification Request System website. You can conveniently submit comments on the request to DWR on this page (see the blue Comments button in the left sidebar). The UVR-GSA website Basin Boundary Modification page also has more background information and maps showing the existing and proposed boundaries.

DWR has a mailing list specifically for their Sustainable Groundwater Management program. If you are interested in being informed when basin boundary modifications related actions or any other SGM program actions are made, subscribe to their email list here  www.water.ca.gov/groundwater/sgm/subscribe.cfm
